Vitus - Venon Evo Launch Film

I partnered up with the camera wizards at Atelier Nord for this project: a launch film for the versatile Venon Evo from Vitus. The brand was keen to demonstrate their support for grassroots racing: the privateers and club-level athletes who have to make every piece equipment earn its place. We also needed to show off the bike's ability to split genres with the simple swap of a wheelset, with gravel and road racing covered equally.

My plan was to draw on the guerilla racing scene of the couriers and fixed gear riders of the mid-00s. Two riders going full tilt on a scavenger hunt-style alley cat, grabbing pictures of landmarks – one on asphalt and one on dirt. This drew together a very clear demonstration of what this one bike was capable of, in the framework of the most rudimentary of pedal-powered competition. Scrappy and irreverent, but with an undercurrent of serious performance potential.

Storyboarding and location scouting was taken care of by me, and the Atelier Nord team brought the vision kicking and screaming into reality. The Venon Evo went on to win two Bike Of The Year awards, though I don't think the film can take credit for that.
